Show the Love! Reflecting About Suicide Prevention
I have never been good at calling friends or family to see how they’re doing.
I wish I could be that person who remembers everyone’s birthday, or who sends you that nice little text to remind you he or she thinks about you… I really wish I could do better at it!
That doesn’t mean I don’t care about people… It does mean that people I love and care about don’t know I do, or don’t get reminded enough!
Throughout these months of pandemic lifestyle, I admit, I have come to feel desperate at times.
Haven’t you also been desperate?
It is a very real pain to feel desperate…
I can’t imagine what it would be like to feel that same pain every day, every week, everywhere and every when…
I have been thinking and praying for those living in already desperate situations, now exacerbated by this pandemic.
I remember my high school friend who needs more of my attention.
I reflect about my extremely successful friend who surprisingly committed suicide at home last year…
I remind my self to call my elderly parents more often, so that I can timely CARE, and timely ASK, and timely respond with the LOVE they need.
…and I reflect about all of us now living in these desperate times…some feeling and knowing we are loved; too many alone and in hopeless silence.
Mental Health and suicidal ideation is much more complex than that but …
Don’t WE ALL need to get that call sometimes…
While we reflect together this month on suicide awareness and prevention ask your self this simple QUESTion:
WHO will you call to show your LOVE?
